About the Author of Ectomorph Diet
I’ve been where you are—staring down at the scale and wondering why the number never goes up. I understand your frustration and doubts. I know your hunger for something more. Something bigger.
As a hardgainer, the Standard Operating Procedure for building muscle didn’t work for me. So, I had to develop a new process and a new set of instructions.
I’m Jeremy Fox, a Process Engineer, NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach/Personal Trainer, and Founder of Nutritioneering. I’ve spent the last 25 years studying how to build muscle with an ectomorph body type. A task seemingly equivalent to adding paper mâché to a wireframe inside of an incinerator.

In addition to my personal experiments, I’ve worked with guys who couldn’t curl a can of beans all the way up to professional bodybuilders. I understand the ins and outs of training and eating for growth, especially for those slow responders like me.
Growing up, sports were my passion, and I dreamed of making the varsity football team. Entering my first year of high school, I weighed 117 pounds soaking wet. I was basically Steve Rodgers – pre-Captain America transformation.
Embarrassed about looking weak, I skipped out on lifting weights with the football team. One day at practice, a bigger kid said to me, “Why are you even here? You’re too small. You’ll never play!” That bully’s words sparked a new passion inside me, and I showed up in the weight room the very next day.
With a chip on my shoulder, I was on a mission to get bigger, stronger, and prove the doubters wrong. After two years of lifting weights, I had bulked up to 150 pounds. Not monstrous by any means, but I made the varsity team, and the bully got transferred.
Years later, in my 20s, I still couldn’t tip the scales past 160 pounds. It felt like trying to fill a leaky bucket with a teaspoon. Then I realized my body wasn’t broken—it was different. I had a superpower for absorbing energy in the form of calories. Once I adjusted my diet, I finally broke through that body weight barrier.
Eventually, I packed on enough muscle to push well over 200 pounds. No gimmicks, no shortcuts, all natural. But I still wasn’t happy with how I looked. It took several more years of experimentation to fine-tune my Ectomorph Diet for building muscle while maintaining an aesthetic and shredded superhero physique.
I went on to compete in bodybuilding in the Men’s Physique division and attained national qualification. While I haven’t stepped on stage in years, I still sit at around 170 pounds with single-digit body fat.

Over the years, I’ve researched sports nutrition studies, read dozens of bodybuilding books, and sweated through the trial-and-error. I won’t feed you fairytales; I’ll give you straightforward strategies. Think of it as turning on the light in a dark basement. You’ll finally see what to eat, how to train, and when to push hard or pull back.
These pages are the ectomorph’s blueprint for muscle gain. No fluff or snake oil, just straight talk, and workable instructions. This book provides the building materials. Then, it shows you how to fortify your nutrition, assemble your workouts, and measure what matters.
Science provides the parameters, and real-life experience puts it into practice.
Don’t think I’m handing you a magic wand. You’ll still put in the work. But with the right understanding, you’ll finally get a return on your investment.
I’ve crawled through that tunnel and come out bigger, stronger, and healthier. Now, it’s your turn. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work. The gains await!
